Imagine that you’re having a tough morning. And the day isn’t getting any better. Big projects at work. Car’s acting up again. Bill collectors are messaging you with words like “past due” and “final notice” and “shutoff imminent” phrases.
Not the kind of things that make you smile.
Let me show you something that could make you smile.
Shuffle girls.
Apparently there’s a YouTube subseries where pretty girls perform a “shuffle” dance, where their feet move at frenetic speed while some upbeat, uptempo music plays in the background. And after you watch these clips … you kinda feel better about yourself. You can deal with your job. The car’s grinding noises don’t bother you. The coffee is somewhat edible. And for some reason, you’re not paying any attention to the bill collectors.
I shall demonstrate.
This “shuffle girls” video seems to pop up on my YouTube algorithm every so often. I’m not complaining that it does. 😀
Which eventually leads to this remix of a lesser-known Elvis Presley track, “Marie’s The Name (His Latest Flame).” I can’t decide if the remix makes the dancing more fun, or if the dancing makes the remix sound brighter.
You know … I almost forgot that one of Madonna’s early vocal appearances was as a background singer on Patrick Hernandez’ “Born to Be Alive.” Then again, I’m surprised I remember that fact after watching this video.
This girl, Levanna McLean, did several “shuffle dance” videos during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, and I personally think that she was born with a smile and can’t ever frown. Plus, thanks to that video, I’ve added that Four Below Zero track to my WHCL radio show from time to time.
Of course … what nobody really tells you is that the “shuffle dance” is just a straight-up evolution of the 1920’s “Charleston” dance.
Don’t believe me?
Take a peek.
Yep. Everything old is new again, I guess.
Now comes the question … would I ever attempt to do that “shuffle” dance?
Yeah, right. After two foot surgeries? I’m more likely to “shuffle” off to the orthopedist.
But there’s no rule that says I can’t watch others shuffle and I can enjoy what they do, right?
And in case you’re thinking that I’m watching the shuffle dance just for the pretty girls …
Check it out. Men can “shuffle dance” as well. See?
